# The Year Game from NCTM

Updated: Feb 20, 2020

As a part of NCTM ’s year-long 100th birthday celebration, they have created a year game for 2020.

The Game is how many expressions you can write for all the numbers from 1 to 100 using only the digits of 2020.

The Rules of the game;

Use only the digits 2, 0, 2, and 0, in any order*, with the operations +, -, x, ÷, ^ (raised to a power), sqrt (square root), ! (factorial), and !! (double factorial) to write expressions for the counting numbers 1 through 100. Grouping symbols may also be used. This year, see how far you can get without using multi-digit numbers such as 20, 200, .02. However, the online submission form will still accept multi-digit numbers. Write your answers in the boxes above, using no equal signs. Correct format: ((2 - 0) * 2) + 0 Incorrect format: 2 - 0 = 2 * 2 = 4 + 0 = 4

Student solutions may be submitted starting January 1, 2020, using the Web form linked on the side menu. They will begin to post student solutions after February 1, 2020. You can make your entries here
